Catherine Carrick and John So in Tianjin for the China mission

Catherine Carrick recently visited China, forming part of a 20 member delegation team to support Lord Mayor John So’s visit to the Asia Society’s 18th Asian Corporate Conference, in Tianjin.

The event coincided with the 10th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Melbourne and Tianjin, forged by the City of Melbourne.

Catherine had the pleasure of attending the opening address by China’s Premier Wen Jiabao. Topics high on the agenda were sustainability, innovation and the future of VET, providing a glimpse into China’s plans for future growth.

While in Beijing Catherine attended an exclusive dinner which was hosted by the Australian Ambassador to China, Dr Geoff Raby at his residence in the Australian Embassy, Beijing.

Catherine also had the opportunity to meet with members from China’s Ministry of Education, in order to strengthen ties with Carrick and China.

Carrick sponsors Aboriginal cricket initiative - Harmony 8

Carrick Institute of Education sponsored the Harmony 8 cricket initiative, which gives young indigenous and non-indigenous people the opportunity to embrace cricket.

As a part of Carrick’s corporate and social responsibility, the institute has donated $4,000 which will go towards helping the children in the Gippsland region, to purchase much needed equipment and support cricket activities.

Mid year intake - Carrick Institute of Education is offering Advanced Diploma courses specialising in hospitality management, commercial cookery and patisserie streams. These courses provide students with the necessary skills and training required to work in the patisserie and commercial cookery industries. Students obtain their basic trade qualifications and learn concepts relating to hospitality operations and management protocol. This prepares students for the various types of management skills required for the industry.

Carrick welcomes CMC Training at Work

Carrick Institute of Education is excited to welcome CMC Training at Work to its rapidly growing network. The CMC acquisition forms part of an exciting growth phase at Carrick, allowing the institute to reach its expansion goals faster.

Under Carrick’s direction, it will be business as usual for the teaching and management staff at CMC Training at Work, who will continue to offer a variety of Certificate II to Advanced Diploma courses including aged care, childcare, first aid, food handling, food safety though to training and assessment qualifications.
