I completed an Advanced Diploma of Business (Marketing) at Carrick when it was called ACTH Management in 2003. After graduation I was given the opportunity to do work experience in a 4-star hotel in Beijing, China. The hotel was great and gave me the opportunity to work in every department, from Food and Beverage to Front Desk and even in Reservations and Sales. By doing this I now understand the working environment, culture, processes and procedures of a highly successful hotel. The opportunity was really a dream because it gave me the chance to travel to a foreign country and to experience new things. When I returned to Australia I decided to study further and am currently studying a Bachelor of Business at Victoria University.

Course of study: Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management
I’m originally from Bombay (Mumbai) in India. I completed my Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management in June 2005. It was a great experience for to me have studied there as it has given me many great opportunities. The teachers were great and their knowledge of the industry has stood by me ever since. I have been so fortunate to have made friends from all over the world – South America, Europe, Asia and many more places. Through working in commercial kitchens I managed to get my TRA which is so important to me. I am now a permanent resident and still stay in contact with the institute and former classmates through the recently formed Carrick Alumni, which has invited me to talk to this year’s graduating students. Through Carrick Recruitment and Training Services, I have managed to get a job as a chef in the famous Shangri La Hotel in Sydney. This has always been my goal – to work as a chef in a prestigious hotel.
