Catherine Carrick and John So in Tianjin for the China mission
Catherine Carrick recently visited China, forming part of a 20 member delegation team to support Lord Mayor John So’s visit to the Asia Society’s 18th Asian Corporate Conference, in Tianjin.
The event coincided with the 10th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Melbourne and Tianjin, forged by the City of Melbourne.
Catherine had the pleasure of attending the opening address by China’s Premier Wen Jiabao. Topics high on the agenda were sustainability, innovation and the future of VET, providing a glimpse into China’s plans for future growth.
While in Beijing Catherine attended an exclusive dinner which was hosted by the Australian Ambassador to China, Dr Geoff Raby at his residence in the Australian Embassy, Beijing.
Catherine also had the opportunity to meet with members from China’s Ministry of Education, in order to strengthen ties with Carrick and China.
